Details:
Also known as "cinnamon stone” hessonite garnets can make beautiful jewelry stones, provided they aren’t overly included. A variety of grossular garnet, hessonite is prone to inclusion, but this stone is a great example for faceting.
Please note, this stone also exemplifies the “heat wave” or “whisky in water” effect, which can confirm identification as hessonite. Like horsetail inclusions in demantoid, another grossular variety, this effect is seen as a positive, as it indicates that it is a natural, untreated, hessonite garnet.
There is also one veil/included area near the point that will need to be cut out. The surface reaching feature in the window area is a good indication of its location and size. As you can see, after preforming this stone will leave you with a wonderful shape to work with.
