Don’t worry! You’re not seeing double. Well, actually, you are, but you’re supposed to in the 4.13 ct Silver Zircon from Tanzania! This gorgeous stone is loop-clean and cut in classic square cushion that gives a solid nod to Old Mine Cut diamonds (ensuring it gives you all sorts of rainbow sparkly feels).
About that seeing double, zircon is strongly doubly refractive. So much so that it actually creates a double-image of the facets, which is what you’re seeing in these pictures. The effect takes very keen eyesight, or some kind of magnification to be noticeable in real life, but it is a very cool hallmark of a real zircon. Like most lighter zircons this one has been heated to lift the color to this beautiful silver, grey which would look absolutely killer in a white gold or platinum setting.
